Silicon Ranch’s first lambing season was a success. Quadruplets, triplets, twins, and singles, we adore them all!

Mama ewe nursing her just delivered, tail-wagging twin lambs.

Last month, we announced an industry and company first: the acquisition of our own flock of sheep to manage vegetation and restore the grassland ecosystems at our growing portfolio of “self-perform” solar ranches.

That flock of sheep included quite a few pregnant ewes.

So….we’re pleased to report that thanks to Mother Nature and the hard, often round-the-clock work of our regenerative managers and agrivoltaic technicians, approximately 200 happy, healthy lambs were born into the Silicon Ranch family over the past few weeks at our Snipesville Regenerative Solar Ranch.

“Bonus lambs” and guard dog, safe and happy in their pens. There’s typically only room for two lambs at each “mommy table”, so our agrivoltaic technicians provide bottle nursing and shelter for all the bonus lambs for about a month after birth, until they’re ready to re-join the flock and forage on their own.

Managing a flock of sheep is not just another day at the office.

Jim Malooley, Silicon Ranch Senior Operations Manager, Regenerative Energy & Land Management, watched this mama give birth to quadruplets while he was attending an all-staff virtual meeting! We’re thankful that mom and babies are all thriving. The chance of a ewe delivering quadruplets is approximately one-in-five hundred and those odds double when all four lambs survive.

We’re thankful that mom and babies are all thriving. We’re thrilled with the growth of our flock.

We’re thrilled with the growth of our flock. This growth is critical to our ability to regeneratively manage our nation-leading portfolio of utility-scale agrivoltaics projects, further expand access to carbon and other ESG solutions for our customers, and provide meaningful benefits to our local communities. Our Regenerative Energy® projects improve soil health, increase biodiversity, keep water cleaner, and pull carbon from the atmosphere – all while making local economies more resilient and providing clean energy to power the equivalent of close to a million businesses and homes.

We make solar do more.
